The Federal Government has commenced the installation of equipment and machines for the proposed pencil factory at the Projects Development Institute (PRODA), Enugu. A Pencil production plant as Nigeria’s government set to commence local production The Chairman, Governing Board of PRODA, Mr Daniel Onjeh, disclosed this on Friday in Enugu while briefing newsmen on the activities of the institute. Onjeh said that the PRODA school pencil project was a flagship and the first of such production facility in West Africa. He said that the factory would be producing a minimum of 15 million pencils per annum, when completed. He said that the institute was working towards using local content, adding it had also diversified into the use of waste paper for its production. Onjeh said: “The project is aimed at 100 per cent local content, including graphite, clay, wood and waste paper. “We are expecting experts from China in October to install the machines that will produce pencils with waste paper.

Prof. Yinka Omorogbe, Edo State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, has said that Edo has over 50 per cent cases of human trafficking, making it the highest affected state in Nigeria, Igbere TV reports. According to her, a total of 4,943 returnees, made up of 3,329 male, 1,400 female and 214 children were repatraitrated to the State between 2017 and 2019. She further disclosed that majority of those trafficked were from Uhumwode, Orhionmwon and Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Areas, all in Edo South Senatorial District. Igbere TV reports Omorogbe to have said that over N300 million was spent between 2017 and 2019 to pay stipends and loans​ to indigenes of the state who were repatriated from Libya. Twitter CEO, Jack Dorsey experienced a major security breach affecting his Twitter account in the late hours of Friday, August 30th, as his account was briefly taken over by a group of hackers known as the Chuckling Squad . Offensive tweets which include racial slurs, antisemitic messages and at least one Holocaust denial were tweeted out by the hackers in 10 minutes of being in control of Dorsey’s account. Jack Dorsey ‘s unauthorized tweets were broadcast to more than 4 million users and sent Twitter into a frenzy, with many actively tagging Twitter Security and Twitter Communications, hoping to alert them to the problem. The deceased was said to be preparing for mobilisation for the mandatory National Youth Service when the incident happened penultimate Monday. The Lagos state government on Friday August 30, intercepted a truck from Jigawa state loaded with 123 persons and 48 motorcycles in Agege area of the South-West state. The truck was impounded by operatives of the Special Taskforce on Environmental Sanitation and Special Offenses, after residents of the Lagos community raised an alarm over the manner occupants of the truck conducted themselves. Yinka Egbeyemi, the Chairman of the Taskforce told newsmen that occupants of the truck were moved to Oshodi for interrogation. According to him, nothing incriminating was found on them apart from their motorcycles. He said: “While my team was on operation, we got information from the public that some people had entered into Lagos in trailer loaded with over 300 people. We swiftly responded to the alert and trailed the truck from Berger area to Agege. Gunmen operating along the Kaduna-Zaria expressway on Friday kidnapped the member of the Kaduna State House of Assembly representing Zaria Constituency, Hon. Suleiman Ibrahim Dabo. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has arrested 12 suspected Internet fraudsters in Lagos. The suspects-Oluwaseun Ogunbunmi, Haruna Yusuf , Olubori Hassan, Wasiu Idowu, Basit Adeniran, Aina Olajuwon, Okafor Joseph, David Ado, Olamide Ogunseye, Opeyemi Ahmed , Monsuru Amao, Taiwo Rasak- were arrested on Thursday, August 29, 2019 in a rented three-bedroom apartment in the Ikotun area of Lagos, where they used as a Yahoo Yahoo school. The arrest followed intelligence reports received from concerned members of the public about their alleged criminal activities. A mother of four identified as Mrs Chinasa Odah, has been confirmed dead after a failed abortion in which she bled to death. The native of Inikiri Effum community in the Ohaukwu Local Government Area of Ebonyi State bled to death on August 24, at Sudan hospital after taking abortion pills. The 29-year-old lady’s pregnancy came off her amorous relationship with a 25-year-old man identified as Monday Mgbada. The lady’s extra-marital affair was uncovered after her husband, Michael Odah rushed her to Sudan Hospital where a doctor confirmed she took abortion pills. Punch reported that Mgbada was arrested by the police after the lady disclosed that he administered the abortion pills which sources said was capable of damaging the deceased’s womb. “Chinasa was bleeding from her private parts. When she was questioned, she opened up that one Monday Mgbada impregnated her and administered abortion drugs on her. As soon as she made that statement, she gave up the ghost,” the source said.
